POTSDAM - The four career/paid professional fire drivers for the village of Potsdam recently made a personal investment in the St. Lawrence County Fire Training Facility, Inc.s Live Burn Simulator project. The project is currently going on at the Training Facility in West Potsdam.
The four drivers - Richard Fenton, Michael Lozipone, Robert Pierce and Robert Crowe - pooled $2 each, then sent Mr. Lozipone off to the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino to try their luck. As luck would have it, Mr. Lozipone returned with $60 in hand to donate to the new Live Burn Simulator Project.
Officials say they are over the $100,000 mark with donations toward their project cost of $450,000 from all types of organizations, groups and individuals such as the fire people.
To make a donation, visit their web page at www.firetrainingcenter.com and use theirPay Pal donate page.
This is a total St. Lawrence County community project that serves 2,000-plus fire personnel in every department. It allows them to gain the experience and training to enter a burning structure to extinguish a fire and make a rescue.
