CANTON - The two men appointed to fill vacant seats on the Pierrepont Town Board will be on the Republican line in the November election.
Roger Murray and Dahl McCormick, each with 50 votes, edged a strong challenge from Chad Van Brocklin, 41 votes, in the GOP primary for the one-year unexpired terms for two town council seats.
Piercefield Republican voters selected Timothy Fuller, 32 votes, over Patrick G. Hutchins, 7 votes, to be their partys candidate for a three-year term as superintendent of highways.
The tightest race of the night in St. Lawrence County saw John F. Ceresoli, 32 votes, edge Joan K. Mason, 30 votes, in the GOP primary for a town justice seat in the town of Macomb. There was also one write in vote.
While incumbent Janet L. Duprey won the 115th Assembly District, voters in the towns of Brasher, Lawrence, Hopkinton and Piercefield - added to the district in this years redistricting plan - backed challenger Karen M. Bisso over the incumbent by a 61-43 margin. David J. Kimmel rounded out the field with 11 votes.
