POTSDAM - The Massena Central varsity girls volleyball team swept its way to an NAC win on the road over Potsdam Central on Thursday.
Janisa Benedict led the way for Massena (3-0) with 19 service points, seven kills and five blocks as the Lady Raiders won by scores of 27-25, 25-15, 25-21. Krista Loran served up another 16 points while Aryanna Jacobs tallied 15 points and Tristan Thomas recorded nine points, nine assists and five kills.
In ther other NAC matches on Thursday, OFA downed Tupper Lake in four sets while Chateaugay swept past Edwards-Knox.
OFA 3, Tupper Lake 1: At Tupper Lake, the host Lumberjacks took the opening set 25-19 before the Blue Devils stormed back to take the next three 25-8, 25-17, 25-13. Leading the well distributed contributions for OFA were; Katrina Couperus (10 digs, 3 kills, 3 points), Olivia Bender (10 assists), Brittany Barr (14 points, 6 aces, 4 kills, 3 digs, 1 assist), Jade Casey (12 points, 6 aces, 5 kills, 4 digs), Felicia Barr (9 points, 8 aces, 6 kills, 1 dig, 1 block) and Sky Hoover (6 points, 2 aces, 4 kills, 2 assists, 1 dig).
Chateaugay 3, E-K 0: The host Lady Bulldogs won by scores of 25-11, 25-10 and 25-16 to move to 3-0 on the season.
Shelby Yanulavich and Caitlin Miller paced the lady Bulldogs with 11 services point and 14 assists, respectively. Yanulavich had seven aces among her points and led the play at the net with 10 kills. Coming off the bench for the Bulldogs were Bailey Dowd and Kylie Hanley, who had seven service points each. Hanley had four aces while Dowd registered three aces for CCS.
