MASSENA - The Massena Central junior varsity football team climbed to 3-0 on Thursday via a 28-0 win over Gouverneur.
Isaiah Dillabough anchored a balanced Massena offense, going for 116 yards, including touchdown runs of 65 and 39 yards, on just seven carries. Patrick Manning ran for another 76 yards, including a 25-yard touchdown burst, on 11 totes. Also contributing toward the junior Raider rushing attack were; Zack Plourde (4x28, 8-yd TD), Jayce Lanning (3x28, 23-yard punt return) and Maddox Merry (4x10).
Merry also completed eight of 15 passes for 45 yards. He passed for a pair of two-point conversions to Plourde and Dillabough and was intercepted once. Plourde had four catches for 21 yards. Also aiding the passing game with catches were Jack Foster (2x11) and Bobby Todd (2x14).
Plourde also played a lead role defensively with eight tackles, including two sacks. Dillabough notched five takedowns. Nolan Terrance and Sako Rouke both finished with four tackles and a sack. Todd posted another four tackles followed by Jason Zembeck and Manning (fumble recovery) with three apiece, Foster (2 tackles, 1 sack) and Matthew Thibault (1 sack).
Coached by Nick Zappia, along with assistants John Adey and Ed Letham, the junior Raiders head to Malone next Wednesday for a 4:30 p.m. encounter with Franklin Academy.
