Richard C. Paytosh 89, of Bonita Springs, FL passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2012. He was born October 7, 1922 in Cleveland, OH a son of the late John R. and Anna (Menosky) Paytosh. Dick had been a resident of Bonita Springs since 1992 coming from Massena, New York.

He was a graduate of West Tech High School, Cleveland, OH and New London Maritime Academy, New London, CT. He served during WWII and Korean War with the Merchant Marines. In 1958, he assisted with organizing the opening of the joint Canadian-American St. Lawrence River Seaway. Captain Paytosh worked until retirement as a ship pilot with the St. Lawrence River Seaway Pilots Association. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Lillian S. Paytosh of Bonita Springs, FL; son, Gregory C. Paytosh and his wife, Hilary Walmsley of New Hope, PA; daughter, Valerie R. Weinberg and her husband, David A. of Naples, FL and two grandchildren, Ian T. Weinberg and Shelby A. Weinberg. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Friday, Sept. 21st at 5:30 pm at Joanne’s House at Hospice 27100 Imperial Parkway, Bonita Springs, FL.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials in Dick’s name be made to Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice. Arrangements are being made handled by Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home (239) 992-4982.
