A startup Ogdensburg restaurant is entering the fall and winter seasons by moving its diners indoors, staying open longer and offering a new menu that includes breakfast.
Open since spring, the Simplicity Cafe, located in the Dobisky Center, 100 Riverside Ave., has concentrated successfully on outdoor luncheon dining.
Owner and operator Trevor R. Brunet had been asked by many of his customers to consider breakfast.
He thought about it.
Breakfast by the (St. Lawrence) river, Mr. Brunet said Tuesday. Its one of those things.
So it all starts Sept. 29. The hours will be 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The cafe will be closed on Monday.
Mr. Brunet is looking forward to the change of seasons.
I am getting excited about implementing the new menu at the end of the month, he said. The summer menu will slowly be turned into the fall-winter menu with many new offerings.
In addition to breakfast, sandwiches, wraps and salads, the Simplicity will begin serving up soups. Mr. Brunet said he will be offering specialties in addition to the perennial all-American staples, tomato and chicken noodle.
Im going to be serving at least four soups a day, he said.
Mr. Brunet will also prepare food for next months first annual Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce Ogtoberfest, which will be held outside the Dobisky Center and at nearby Library Park.
I will be featuring some authentic German cuisine, one of my favorite cuisines to cook and serve being that is a large part of my background for food, he said.
Indoor dining will be made possible by setting out tables for up to 25 people in the Dobisky boaters lounge and lobby.
