MASSENA - Enbridge St. Lawrence Gas Companyannounced that it will hold a ceremonial groundbreakingfor its expansion project at 1 p.m.todayin Malone.
The project will bring naturalgas distribution to areas of St. Lawrence and Franklin counties.
The ceremony represents the official start of construction, and the culmination of over 10 years of planning to expandthe companys distribution system and provide naturalgas to the communities of Winthrop, Brasher Falls andNorth Lawrence in St. Lawrence County and Moira, NorthBangor, Brushton, Malone, Burke and Chateaugay in FranklinCounty.
Construction has already commenced on the 8-inch steel transmission line and will continue over the nextseveral years as the company builds the distribution systemthroughout the expansion area.
Richard Campbell, president and general manager; andJames Ward, assistant general manager of Enbridge St.Lawrence Gas along with government and civic officials willparticipate in the afternoon groundbreaking ceremony at theAirport Pavilion in Malone. The ceremony will consist ofremarks from New York State Senator Betty Little, New YorkState Assemblywoman Janet Duprey, Franklin County government representatives, NorthCountry Regional Council Co-ChairGarry Douglasand Agri-Mark McCadamV.
