DWI - POTSDAM - Village police charged Craig W. Phelix, 26, of Brasher Falls with aggravated driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop at 1:47 a.m. Thursday on Elm Street. He was also ticketed for speeding (45/30) on Elm Street and making a prohibited turn from Raymond Street onto Elm Street.

He reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.20 percent. A blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent constitutes a driving while intoxicated offense. The charge is elevated to aggravated DWI when the blood alcohol content is 0.18 percent or higher.

During the traffic stop, police determined they also had a bench warrant for Phelix for failing to appear as directed in village court on an open container violation.

He was arraigned on the aggravated DWI and bench warrant by Potsdam Village Justice Nicholas Pignone and released pending his next court appearance.

Police also picked up on a passenger in Phelix’s vehicle, Stuart McCallen, 25, of Brasher Falls charging he had also failed to appear as directed on an open container violation pending in village court. He was also arraigned by Judge Pignone, pleaded guilty and was fined $50.



SPEEDING - POTSDAM - Village police ticketed Richard D. Gallivan, 28, of Syracuse for speed in zone following a traffic stop at 6:07 p.m. Thursday on Pierrepont Avenue. He was reportedly traveling 52 mph in a 30 mph zone.



FAILURE TO YIELD - POTSDAM - Village police ticketed Alexander G. Kovacs, 44, of Potsdam for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk following a traffic stop at 10:20 p.m. Thursday on Pierrepont Avenue.

2038 Potsdam Rescue dispatched to SUNY Potsdam Student Union for a female student who passed out, fell and stuck her head.

2102 Canton Police relayed a reckless driver complaint that they received and were unable to locate the vehicle. Patrols advised and were unable to locate the vehicle.
