The St. Lawrence Central varsity girls soccer team outlasted NAC North Division rival Norwood-Norfolk 2-1 for its first win of the season while Parishville-Hopkinton pulled way to a 6-1 East Division win over St. Regis Falls on Thursday.
SLC 2, N-N 1: In Norfolk, junior Lindsey Thayer scored the first goal of the game off an assist from Morgan Villnave in the 26th minute then raced down the field to score an unassisted breakaway goal with less than five minutes left in regulation to lift the Lady Larries to their first win.
The Lady Flyers tied the game 15 minutes into the second half when Emily LaRoe finished off a play set up by Alexis Palmer.
Haleigh Agans handled 13 shots backstopping the win while Mickey Frego stood tall working the N-N crease for 18 saves.
P-H 6, SRF 1: At St. Regis Falls, the visiting Lady Panthers (4-1, 3-1) generated four goals over the final 22 minutes to break from a 2-1 halftime lead. Emily Sloan led the winning attack with three goals and two assists. Olivia Collins, Sophie Norman and Michaela Cole (1 assist) struck for the other goals. Kodi Perkins, Cassara Cole and Marissa Paradis each tallied solo assists while Marlee Wilson (4 saves) and Kelsi Putnam (3 saves) combined to backstop the win.
Makensy Badzaric connected from Kaitlyn White in the 22nd minute of the first half to account for the lone SRF (0-4) goal. Kiana Stowell fielded 17 shots working the crease in the loss.
In other NAC girls soccer action on Thursday, Chateaugay edged East Division rival Colton-Pierrepont 1-0 and Franklin Academy posted a 2-0 interdivisional win over Brushton-Moira while Harrisville notched a 4-1 West Division decision over Morristown.
Chateaugay 1, C-P 0: In South Colton, Hannah Cook broke through for an unassisted goal 26 minutes into the second half and the Lady Bulldogs (4-0, 3-0) made it stand for the win.
Makayla Fleury made five saves in posting the shutout while Kathryn Miller handled 12 shots for the Lady Colts (2-3-1, 1-2).
FA 2, B-M 0: In Brushton, Morgan Fountain scored unassisted goals in the fifth minute of the first half and ninth minute of the second to spark the Lady Huskies (1-2-1, 1-1-1) to the win.
Jayme LaVoie had 10 saves backstopping the shutout. Caitlin LaPage (3 saves) and Ashley DeBeer (4 saves) split crease duties for B-M (2-2, 2-1).
In NAC boys soccer action on Thursday, Franklin Academy netted a 4-1 interdivisional win over Brushton-Moira while Harrisville gained a 4-2 West Division win over Morristown.
FA 4, B-M 2: In Malone, the visiting Panthers opened the scoring in the 11 minute when Loren Traynor connected from Bobby Hooker before the Huskies pulled even less than a minute later on the first of two straight goals by Aaron Sharlow.
Kody Mulverhill helped seal the win with a pair of unanswered second-half goals.
Austin Lamay stopped four shots for FA while Taylor Tallman posted 12 saves for B-M.
