POTSDAM - The board of education voted to grant Superintendent Patrick H. Brady a new three-year contract Tuesday night that will give him a 2.5 percent raise this year.
Board of education President Christopher C. Cowen explained that while Mr. Brady received a three-year contract the terms of that contract are negotiated on an annual basis.
Ralph L. Fuller, who chairs the boards personnel and negotiations committee, said with the exception of a raise the contract remained pretty much the same as it was this year, including a 10 percent contribution to the cost of his health insurance policy.
As for the raise, Mr. Fuller said it was something the board felt was well-deserved.
There were a few years when he didnt take a raise, Mr. Fuller said, adding the committee looked at the salaries and raises given to other superintendents in the area.
Hes kind of in the middle, Mr. Fuller said. We based it on what we could afford and what we felt was fair.
With the raise, Mr. Bradys salary for the current fiscal year rises from $125,026.34 to $128,152.
Given it was his own contract, Mr. Brady declined to comment following the meeting, deferring comment to Mr. Cowen and Mr. Fuller.
The contract was unanimously approved with two board members, Wade A. Davis and Mark R. Frascatore, not present.
