ELMIRA - The SUNY Potsdam golf team placed 6th at the Elmira College Fall Invitational Tuesday afternoon. SUNY Delhi won the competition with a final score of 325, while the Bears finished with 354.
Senior Matt Supernault (Massena, N.Y.) led Potsdam posting a low score of 87. Freshman John Hickey (Au Sable Forks, N.Y.) and sophomore Tyler Carrow (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) tied with rounds of 88. Senior Andrew Holmes (Fort Ann, N.Y.) and sophomore Austin Pivetta (Chateaugay, N.Y.) rounded out the team with a 91 and 93, respectively.
The Bears return to the course on Saturday, Oct. 6-7 for the ECAC Qualifier in Macedon, N.Y. Tee time is set for 10 a.m.
CANTON TAKES FIFTH
The SUNY Canton mens golf team finished in fifth place at the Elmira Fall Invitational.
The Roos posted a team score of 353 in the 12-team tournament which placed them ahead of SUNY Potsdam (354), Keystone College (355), SUNY Cobleskill (358), Elmiras B team (363), Baptist Bible College (372), Houghton College (406), and Keuka College (420). SUNY Delhis B team finished first followed by SUNY Delhis A team in second and Elmira College in third.
Junior Mike Reilly (Colton, N.Y.) led the Roos carding an 83 (41-42) to tie for eighth place. Senior Jeremiah Hardin (Alpharetta, Ga.) and freshman Brandon Pupp (Oneida, N.Y.) each turned in an 86 to finish in a tie for 18th place and freshman Brandon Dufrane (Brushton, N.Y.) shot a 98 to tie for 46th place.
The Roos head to Vermont this weekend to play in the Lou Jarvis Invitational on Sept. 29 hosted by Johnson State College at Jay Peak Golf Course.
