MASSENA - The Massena Police Department is investigating an assault and robbery that occurred between 11 and 11:30 p.m. on Bowers Street.
The suspects are described as two white males in their early 20s. One man was described as having a air complexion, thin build and short blonde hair. The other man has a thin build, dark short hair with a slightly darker complexion.
Police said the two men reportedly drove by the victim in a dark colored sports utility vehicle as he walked down Bowers Street toward Grove Street. Bowers Street runs parallel to state Route 37 and connects Main Street near Walgreens to Grove Street near the St. Regis Nursing Home.
The suspects then parked the vehicle and walked toward the victim on the other side of the street. The suspects then crossed the street and asked victim for a cigarette.
As the victim reached into his pocket for his cigarettes, the suspects then started assaulting him and stealing his personal items.
