POTSDAM - Canton-Potsdam Hospital employees selected Lori Durant, office assistant in the Center for Cancer Care; Rob Green, CAT scan tech in the Imaging Department; and Susan Long, transcriptionist; as Employees of the Quarter.

The three were honored by David Acker, President and CEO, and numerous coworkers and managers during a ceremony in the CPH Conference Rooms on September 19th.

Ms. Durant joined Canton-Potsdam Hospital in 2009 as a Phlebotomist in the laboratory. She soon joined the Cardiology department as an EKG Technician. She currently serves the Hospital as Office Assistant at the Center for Cancer Care. Durant has been an integral part of the service’s move to the newly created facility on the main campus by ensuring the transition was as seamless as possible for patients. Her peers noted that she is extremely dedicated, courteous, and respectful to everyone she encounters. “Lori has a gift for working in the field of cancer care,” noted Jackie Dow, director of Oncology Services. “Patients appreciate her company and feel comfortable and reassured by her light-hearted and compassionate qualities. To many, she’s like a member of their family that they confide in and share stories with.”

In 1992, Mr. Green joined Canton-Potsdam Hospital’s Imaging Services Department as a radiological technologist. Since his hire, he has been cross-trained in CAT scanning and now serves as the lead CAT scan technologist.

In recognition of his exceptional leadership qualities and knowledge of patient care, Mr. Green was asked to serve as interim director of the Oncology Services for a brief time in 2007. Mr. Green’s colleagues noted him as a reliable and revered member of the CPH team and champion of patient safety who represents and upholds the hospital’s standards of behavior.

In addition to his assignments in the imaging department, Mr. Green actively participates on hospital committees and teams and was elected by staff to serve as the official master of ceremonies at employee events.

“Rob is an invaluable member of our team,” noted Stacie Woodward, assistant director of Imaging and Cardiac Services. “During our Meditech software upgrade, Rob was instrumental in identifying and resolving cross-departmental concerns. He is relied upon by many for his knowledge and vast experience and is very well-respected by staff and providers alike”.

In 2006, Ms. Long joined Canton-Potsdam Hospital’s Health Information Management department as a Medical Transcriptionist. With years of experience, Long soon became a mentor for others to follow and continues to embrace opportunities to teach and train new transcriptionists.

Ms. Long’s peers noted her as respectful, dedicated to helping others, and a perfectionist in her field. “Sue is an asset to our hospital,” said Lisa Stickney, director of Health Information Management. “She puts in 110 percent and inspires others to do their very best work. In addition to helping train new staff, Sue’s knowledge and skillset served as valuable resources in the creation of an all-inclusive training manual for new employees joining the Transcription Department.”

Each honoree was presented with a floral arrangement, chamber of commerce and CPH Gift Shop gift certificates, a recognition pin, and designated parking space.
