Canton turned back Potsdam and OFA stopped Salmon River in the two NAC Central Division varsity girls soccer matchups on Friday.
Canton 1, Potsdam 0: At Roger Dusharm Field in Canton, Kali Frank connected off an assist from Emma Rexford in the 16th minute and the Lady Bears made it stand for the win.
Katie Clemmer made seven saves, including one off a penalty kick with 24:37 left in regulation, to record the shutout as Canton improved to 3-1 in the division and 5-3 overall. Bre Sapp handled five shots working the crease for Potsdam which suffered its third loss in four games to slip to 2-3 in the division and 4-3-1 overall.
OFA 2, Salmon River 0: In Fort Covington, Alicia Shaver scored from Kaylee LOrange 25 minutes into the game and it held up as the game-winner. Nikki Holmes converted on a 25-yard direct kick 25 minutes into the second half to seal the win.
Christine Snyder made five saves to earn the shutout as OFA improved to 2-2-1 in the division and 3-2-3 overall with the win. Sam Ghostlaw turned aside five shots working the Salmon River (1-4-1, 0-4-1) crease.
Tupper Lake 2, Brushton-Moira 1: In the lone North Division game played on Friday, Katie Stuart netted her second goal of the game with less than three minutes left in regulation to lift the host Lumberjacks to the win. Stuart opened the scoring in the 28th minute off an assist from Allison Richards but the Lady Panthers countered with the equalizer just three minutes later when Kenzi Traynor connected from Jenna Dufrane.
Christine Kelly drew the lone assist on the game-winning goal while Brooke Dewyea made two saves backstopping the win as Tupper Lake improved to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in the division.
Ashley DeBeer and Emily LaPage combined to make four saves sharing crease duties for the Lady Panthers (3-4-0, 2-1-0).
In the West Division games played Friday; Heuvelton edged Lisbon 2-1, Morristown outlasted Clifton-Fine 3-2 in overtime, Harrisville clipped Hammond 1-0 and Hermon-DeKalb doubled Edwards-Knox 4-2.
