CANTON - St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES recently welcomed over 500 administrators, faculty, and staff members at the Opening Day Ceremony in a new venue, SUNY Cantons Roos House.
Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Stephen Todd, Superintendent Thomas Burns and the BOCES Board of Education President Roger Bennett each addressed the crowd.
A number of recognition awards took place including, the staff of the BOCES Maintenance Department and the staff of the Information Technology Department. Both groups were recognized for their hard work, dedication, and high level of professionalism during the transition to the new Educational Services Center at 40 W. Main Street, Canton.
In addition, Sue Ford, Craig Lalonde, Carl Jones, and Mary Kay Hafer all received special recognition for their efforts as part of the BOCES team. Michael Davis of Heuvelton and Jacquie Bouchard of Ogdensburg were also presented with Hall of Fame awards for their contributions to their field. Both Davis and Bouchard are graduates of St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES Career and Technical Education Programs.
Finally, several BOCES employees were recognized for their years of dedicated service. Recognized for 20 years of service were, Margaret Charleson, Theresa Crowe, Norma Drummatter, June Duvall, Paula Ericksen, Jennifer Lacks-Miller, Jane Lashombe, Ronald Shirtz, Diane Spears, and Nicki Jo Travis. Recognized for 25 years of services were, Patty Burnham, Sherrie Demers, Steve Fenton, Teresa Fisher, Kaila Perrault, Vicky Putnam, and Virginia Thrasher. Recognized for 30 years of service were Mary Hafer, Pamela Kemp-Shepherd, Steven Kroeger, and Suzanne Waters.
