Rooseveltown man fined following domestic with his child’s mom

MASSENA - A 38-year-old Rooseveltown charged with punching his child’s mother in the eye during an argument about her new relationship has been fined after pleading guilty to reduced counts.

Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow fined John W. Santarsiero $50 and a $125 surcharge after a third-degree assault charge was reduced to second-degree harassment and an additional $50 after an unlawful possession of marijuana charge was reduced to disorderly conduct. The court also placed Santarsiero under a one-year conditional discharge with a stipulation he abide by the terms of an order of protection that requires him to not harass, annoy or alarm Lindsay A. George.

Ms. George told police she was at Santarsiero’s residence March 28 to pick up her 3-year-old daughter. She said after she had her daughter in the vehicle Santarsiero approached her vehicle and started arguing with her about her new relationship and then punched her in the eye. She said she was sitting in the driver’s seat at the time of the incident.

Jonathan Zakarauskas told police he had informed Streeter the previous day she was not allowed at the business.

■ Jonathan M. Massic, 25, of 65 Donaghue Road, Massena, was fined $100 and an $85 surcharge for littering and was granted an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal on an unlawful possession of marijuana charge.

New York State Park Police said they stopped Massic’s vehicle on state Route 131 on Dec. 18 after they observed an empty 12-pack of Labatt’s beer fly out of a boat he was pulling. During the traffic stop, park police said they were given permission to search the vehicle and located a pill bottle containing a small quantity of marijuana in the center console.
