Massena girls volleyball sweeps past Canton

MASSENA - The Massena Central varsity girls volleyball team swept past Canton Central in NAC action on Monday.

Krista Loran served up 10 points and notched four kills as the Lady Raiders won by scores of 25-16, 25-8, 25-13. Tristan Thomas had 17 points and four kills while Janisa Benedict tallied 10 points, seven kills and three blocks.

Beth Pearson paced Canton (4-5) with four kills and three points. Colleen Barkley added four kills three assists and one ace while Sara Olin finished with three assists and two kills.

Now 7-2 overall, Massena is slated to play at Gouverneur on Wednesday.

In the other two NAC matches on Monday, Tupper Lake downed Madrid-Waddington in three straight and Chateaugay did likewise to Gouverneur.

Tupper Lake 3, M-W 0: In Madrid, the visiting Lumberjacks won by scores of 25-22, 25-22, 25-17.

Leading the host Yellowjackets were: Sophia Roome (3 kills), Schiler Ashley (6 digs), Hannah Austin (8 points), Cimone Doelger (5 points) and Brittani Dawley (6 sets, 6 points).

Chateaugay 3, Gouverneur 0: In Gouverneur, Chateaugay (8-0) remained as the only undefeated team in the NAC after sweeping past the host Lady Wildcats (2-7) by scores of 25-13, 25-16, 25-10.

Carolyn Stumpf led the Bulldogs with 14 service points, including three aces, with five kills. Kendra King added a nine-point, three-ace, four-kill effort as Erin Ashline had five points and three kills for CCS.

Leading the Gouverneur efforts were: Leesa Isereau (3 kills, 6 assists, 14 sets), Kortnee Bishop (3 kills, 3 points, 2 digs), Mckenzie McBride (1 kill, 7 points) and Megan Cook (4 kills, 1 point).
