Massena, Potsdam boys soccer notch NAC Central road wins

The Massena Central and Potsdam Central varsity boys soccer teams both posted NAC Central Division road wins on Tuesday.

Massena 1, Salmon River 0: At Fort Covington, Robert Cameron finished off a play set up by Dylan Stone 35 minutes into the game and the Raiders made it hold up for the win.

Ian Wilson made six saves to post the shutout as the Raiders improved to 2-1-4 in the Central and 4-2-4 overall. Zach Smith turned aside 11 shots working the crease for the Shamrocks (1-5-2, 0-4-2).

Potsdam 4, Gouverneur 1: In Gouverneur, Chris Stone anchored the winning effort with a pair of wins as the Sandstoners improved to 5-2-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the division. Nnaebuka Ononye netted a solo goal along with eighth-grader David Caamona while Ryan McDonald recorded two saves working the crease for the win.

Matt Waugh broke through for the lone Gouverneur (1-6-1, 0-6-1) goal and Seth Carr fielded 13 of the shots he faced backstopping the loss.

Canton 0, OFA 0 (2OT): In the other Central Division game played at Roger Dusharm Field in Canton, neither team managed to break the scoring plane as Scott Wight fielded the 16 shots he faced for the host Bears (5-2-3, 3-1-2) while Jacob Sias had eight saves for the Blue Devils (4-3-2, 3-1-2).

WEST DIVISION

In the NAC West Division games played on Tuesday; Heuvelton blanked Hammond 6-0, Edwards-Knox downed Clifton-Fine 6-1, Harrisville stopped Hermon-DeKalb 5-1 and Morristown battled Lisbon to a scoreless overtime tie.
