MASSENA - A Massena couple are in custody after being charged with breaking into a female acquaintances home early Thursday morning and forcing her to engage in several sexual acts.
Village police charged Nathaniel W. Dodson, 30, and his wife, Bobbi Jo S. Dodson, 30, both of Riverdale Apartments, 90 East Hatfield St., Apt. 42, Massena, with first-degree burglary and first-degree criminal sexual act. Mr. Dodson was also charged with first-degree rape. They reportedly forced the woman to have sexual contact with Mr. and Ms. Dodson.
Mr. Dodson was additionally charged with false impersonation after he initially identified himself to police as Todd Singleton.
The incident reportedly occurred between 4 and 4:30 a.m. Thursday on Water Street. Police said the Water Street woman suffered injuries as a result of the attack.
Massena Village Police Chief Timmy J. Currier said police are continuing their investigation into the incident, including a motive. The perpertrators knew the victim, and the victim knew the perpetrators, he said.
The Dodsons were arraigned by Massena Village Justice Eric J. Gustafson and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond each.
It is the third felony sexual assault investigation that has resulted in charges being filed by village police in the last two weeks.
Village police charged Jason D. Tassie, 29, of 8 Tracy St., with felony counts of first-degree burglary and second-degree aggravated sexual assault on Sept. 22 following a lengthy investigation into the sexual assault of a female in her mid 80s in Aug. 8, 2009. Police have credited a recent DNA sample provided with Tassie with connecting him to the 2009 incident. He remains at the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility on $100,000 cash bail.
Earlier this week, village police charged Robert L. Pitts Jr., 53, of 492 South Main St., Apt. 2, Massena with second-degree rape and second-degree criminal sexual act. He allegedly had been having a sexual relationship with a now 14-year-old female over the past two years. He remains held in the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility.
