FORT COVINGTON - The Salmon River varsity girls volleyball team gained an NAC interdivisional sweep at home over Edwards-Knox on Thursday.
Nicole Smoke served up a team-high 10 points and handed out four assists as the Lady Shamrocks (7-2) won by scores of 25-22, 25-16, 25-23. Raven Oakes (6 assists, 5 kills, 4 aces) and Wakie Mitchell (5 aces, 3 kills, 2 assists) contributed eight points each off their serve. Also making lead contributions were; Cassie Boardway (5 points), Jackie Benedict (6 kills, 4 points, 2 assists) and Summer Rain Herne (2 kills).
In the other interdivisional matches on Thursday, Franklin Academy turned back Potsdam in four sets while OFA swept Brushton-Moira and Chateaugay did likewise to Madrid-Waddington (25-16, 25-4, 25-11).
OFA 3, B-M 0: The Lady Devils Upped their record to 6-4 with a 25-17, 25-16, 25-4 led by strong serving of Brittany Barr (22 points, 10 aces, 5 kills) and Felicia Barr (12 points, 11 aces, 4 kills, 1 dig).
GIRLS SWIMMING
In an NAC varsity girls swim meet held on Thursday, host OFA outscored Potsdam 124-46.
Ari Frascatore was the leading scorer for the visiting Lady Sandstoners, placing second in the 500 freestyle and third in the 200 freestyle while Emma Kroll placed second in the 100 freestyle.
