MASSENA - A fast start carried the Massena Central junior varsity football team to a 32-0 win over Tupper Lake on Thursday at Mike Nicholas Field.
The junior Raiders scored 16 points in each of the first two quarters en route to keeping their undefeated season intact at 6-0. Isaiah Dillabough anchored the Massena offense going for 96 yards on just five carries, including touchdown runs of 10, 18 and eight yards. Patrick Manning went 100 yards on seven rushes. Also aiding the ground game were Jayce Lanning (5-57), Zach Plourde (3-37), Jason Zembeck (4-29), Maddox Merry (2-26, 2-pt. conversion), Ethan Marcello (3-17) and Matthew Thibault (3-10).
Merry also completed six of 11 passes for 40 yards while being intercepted twice. Lanning has a five-yard completion among his two pass attempts. Plourde caught three balls for 14 yards. Dillabough had two catches for 13 yards, including a two-point conversion. Jack Foster had a 12-yard grab and Thibault a five-yard reception.
Defensively, Plourde and Dillabough led a swarming junior Raider effort with seven tackles each. Thibault, Foster, Marcello, Nolan Terrance and Alonie McGee notched two takedowns each with Rourke and Thibault both recording a fumble recovery.
Coached by Nick Zappia, the junior Raiders put their undefeated record on the line next Wednesday on the road against OFA starting at 5:30 p.m.
