Massena: Donna M. Shoen, 56 of South St, Massena passed away on October 3,2012 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Donna was born on January 4, 1956 in Massena the daughter of Frederick J. and Helen (LaVare) Shoen. Donna graduated from Madrid-Waddington High School. She then graduated from Potsdam State College with her BS in Education. Donna earned her Master’s in Elementary Education also from Potsdam. She substituted at Norwood -Norfolk Schools before starting her teaching career at Trinity Catholic School where she taught Second, First and Third grade up until her untimely passing.

Donna’s survivors include, her mother Helen, of Massena, sisters, Deborah Cloutier of Massena: Rebecca and Scott Cameron of Oneida and Elaine and Scott Marschean of Norwood: brothers, Timothy J. and Sandi of Madrid: Daniel W. and Sheila of Bethlehem, PA: Steven A. and Wendy of Syracuse: Thomas I.and Evelyn Shoen of Norwood, several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Donna was preceded in death by her father Frederick who died on June 24, 2005. Donna was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Spiritual Life Conittee at St. Mary’s and in earlier years Donna was very active in the Girl Scouts program. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday October 6, 2012, at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Church with Rev Scott Fobare presiding. Interment will be in St Lawrence Cemetery, Louisville. Friends and family may be received on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Phillips Memorial Home in Massena. At the request of family memorials may be made in Donnas’ name to the Trinity Catholic School Scholarship Fund.
