Funeral Services for Charles Scoop Roach will be held on Monday, October 8, 2012 at 1:30p.m. at St. Marys Cathedral officiated by Rev. Joseph Morgan. Burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery. Calling Hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Frary Funeral Home. Mr. Roach passed away at St. Josephs Nursing Home on Thursday, October 4, 2012.
Mr. Roach is survived by his sister and brother in law Richard and Patricia Fassett of Ogdensburg, NY and Barbara and Roger Stone of Eerie, Pennsylvania; and also survived by nieces and nephews. Charles was predeceased by four brothers; Howard, Earl, Robert, and Edwin; and one sister Betty Jean Spears.
He was born December 19, 1925 in Ogdensburg, NY, the son of Charles and Vera Woodley Roach. Mr. Roach attended Ogdensburg Free Academy. Charles married the former Helen Plumadore on July 9, 1945 at St. Marys Cathedral with Pastor L.D. Berube officiating. Mrs. Roach passed away in 1990. He first went to work at Strand Theatre where he held the position of assistant manager and then went to work for Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center where he was the supervisor of a ward. After his retirement he and his wife moved back to Ogdensburg, NY.
Mr. Roach was an usher at St. Marys Church and was also a volunteer at St. Josephs Nursing Home. He enjoyed high school sports, especially football. He also enjoyed walking, hunting, and fishing. He loved Cadillacs.
