Funeral Services for Donald (Duck) Ashley of State Highway 812 will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Frary Funeral Home officiated by Rev. F. James Shurtleff. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery. Mr. Ashley died Monday evening at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center where he had been a patient the past week.

Mr. Ashley is survived by two sons, Donald of North Carolina and Scott and his wife Elizabeth of Gouverneur, NY; two sisters, Judy and her husband Dennis Tynon and Patricia and her husband Paul Lalonde both of Ogdensburg, NY; four grandchildren, Miranda, Autumn, Quinn and Lois Ann; two great grandchildren Cody and Alice; an aunt Peg Levine; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Gary and Richard.

Mr. Ashley was born the son of Lawrence and Geraldine Ladouceur Ashley, September 4, 1937 in Ogdensburg. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1957. He married the former Francis Perry on July 6, 1963 in Ogdensburg. She predeceased him in 2005. During Donald’s career he helped in the construction of both prisons in Ogdensburg and various other prisons and schools in Northern New York.

Mr. Ashley enjoyed collecting coins, woodworking and spending time with his family.
