Chateaugay girls soccer team outscores N-N

CHATEAUGAY - The Chateaugay Central varsity girls soccer team improved to 10—0 after claiming a 3-1 NAC interdivisional win at home over Norwood-Norfolk on Wednesday.

Courtney Boyea opened the scoring just 1:12 into the game after converting on a penalty kick then made it 2-0 three minutes later when she connected off an assist from Stephanie Whyte. Boyea then set up Alexis Beach for the final Chateaugay goal in the 29th minute.

Emily LaRoe got the Lady Flyers on the board when she connected from Kirsten Barkley with 6:33 left in regulation.

Makayla Fleury (1 save) and Holly Zeldenrust (3 saves) worked the crease in the winning effort while Mickey Frego posted 10 saves for the Lady Fluers (3-6-1).

In two other interdivisional matchups on Wednesday, Brushton-Moira outlasted Franklin Academy 2-1 and Hermon-DeKalb doubled St. Regis Falls 4-2 while the lone West Division game saw Lisbon overpower Clifton-Fine 7-0.

B-M 2, FA 1: In Malone, the visiting Lady Panthers worked their way to a 2-0 lead five minutes into the second half then held off the Lady Huskies for the win. Rachel Tower connected from Kenzie Traynor at 11:02 for the only goal of the first half. The duo reversed roles for the eventual game-winner just 5:04 into the second before Lydia Cosgrove made it a one-goal game with 12:59 left in regulation off an assist from Morgan Fountain.

Ashley DeBeer had five saves backstopping the shutout as B-M moved to 6-4-0 overall while Jayme Lavoie stopped six shots for FA (2-6-1).

H-D 4, SRF 2: The Demons (5-3) took a 1-0 lead in the first half and connected for two quickies in the first five minutes of the second half to defeat the Saints (0-8).

Abby Mott scored twice for H-D while Paige Whitton and Brook Woodrow each tallied a goal. Rhys Bryant and Rebecca Matthews made 10 saves sharing crease duties.

Ashley Rivers assisted the first SRF goal by Madison Greenwood then scored the second off an assist from Brittany Rondeau while Kiana Stowell made 12 saves in the losing cause.

BOYS SOCCER

The lone NAC varsity boys soccer action on Wednesday was an interdivisional matchup of Franklin County rivals that saw Brushton-Moira blank Franklin Academy 2-0.

Tristen Dumas scored from Loren Traynor in the first half and Traynor connected from Jason LaBlanc in the second half to spark the winning offense. Taylor Tallman made 12 saves backstopping the shutout as the Panthers impr4oved to 6-3-1.

Austin LaMay fielded six shots for the Huskies (7-2-1).
