Funeral Services for Ruth Woods Wagoner, age 87, of Alexandria Bay will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Church with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Burial will be at Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday October 12, 2012 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Frary Funeral Home. Ruth passed away Tuesday evening at Riverledge Nursing Home.

Ruth is survived by her husband Robert Wagoner Sr.; five step-sons Robert Wagoner Jr. and his wife Connie of Alexandria Bay, NY, Tim Wagoner of Alexandria Bay, NY, Phil Wagoner and his wife Kim of Georgia, Rolf Wagoner and his wife Patricia of Alexandria Bay, NY, and Kim Wagoner and his wife Dawn of Pennsylvania; four step-daughters Penny and her husband Jim Wilson of California, Kathy and her husband Eugene Gamble of Adams Center, NY, Wendy and her husband Keith Honaker of Alexandria Bay, NY; a daughter in law Mary Wagoner, twenty-nine step-grandchildren, twenty step-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a step-son Hillary “Bumper” Wagoner, a sister Margaret Testani in 1997, two brothers Thomas Woods in 1972 and Maurice Woods in 1997.

Ruth was born on July 26, 1925 in Ogdensburg, NY the daughter of Albert and Valera Gotham Woods. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1941 and Potsdam Normal in 1945. She first taught in a third grade classroom in Theresa, NY and then came to Ogdensburg and taught first grade at Madill. She went back to school and got her master’s degree at St. Lawrence University and became principal at the new Madill School along with other schools in the Ogdensburg school district. She retired in 1984.

She married Robert Wagoner on February 11, 1984 in Theresa, NY with the honorary Fred Whispell officiating.

She enjoyed traveling, golfing, spending time on the river, snow skiing, and she and her husband loved restoring old boats.
