Blevins Brothers Inc. auto dealership in Ogdensburg will open a nearby separate sales and service outlet for recreational and all-terrain vehicles in February.
Vice President Lynn L. Blevins confirmed Thursday that Feb. 1 is opening day for new dealership at the site of the former Woods Fruit and Vegetable Market, 7384 Route 68, town of Oswegatchie.
Its on track, he said.
The establishment of an opening date is timely. The dealer this week began moving recreational and all-terrain vehicles to the new location from the lot of the Blevins Chrysler-Dodge lot at 5914 Route 812.
Also, officially, the building now belongs to Mr. Blevins. On Sept. 20, the St. Lawrence County Clerks office recorded the sale of the 8.22-acre property from William J. and Glenda Woods, Ogdensburg, to Blevins Brothers Inc., for $200,000.
Mr. Blevins said he had been looking for a separate location to sell recreational and all-terrain vehicles since last winter. The Woods property was in bankruptcy when he made his offer in the spring.
Mr. Blevins said that interior renovations of the building, which is now being used for storage, will begin in December and be finished in January at an estimated cost of $200,000.
The new dealership will employ six workers full time. Four will move between there and the Ogdensburg dealership. The other two will be newly hired employees.
The Blevinses other auto dealerships are in Potsdam, Massena and two in Gouverneur. They sell Chrysler, Jeep, Ford and Dodge vehicles.
