Massena JV gridmen complete 8-0 season with convincing win over FA


MASSENA - The Massena Central didn’t let the chance to complete an undefeated 2012 NAC season go to waste on Monday, pulling away to a 48-6 win over Franklin Academy under the lights at Mike Nicholas Field.

Isaiah Dillabough ran for 102 yards, two touchdowns and a two-point conversion on nine carries as the junior Raiders generated 14 point unanswered points in first quarter then reeled off another 20 in the second to take a 34-0 lead into halftime en route to clinching their eighth win in as many games this fall. Patrick Manning also made lead offensive contributions with 57 yards on nine rushes while returning a kick-off 82 yards for a touchdowns. Also aiding the running game for Massena were Jayce Lanning (5-44yds, 2-yard TD), Zach Plourde (5-39 yds), Ethan Marcello (2-38), Matthew Thibault (15-yard TD) and Jason Zembeck (1-13yds).

Maddox Merry completed three of five passes for 20. Plourde caught two passes for 20 yards with a two-point conversion while Bobby Todd had a 15-yard reception.

Plourde also anchored a tenacious defensive effort with nine tackles followed by Jack Foster with eight. Alonie McGee, Todd, Dillabough, Mason McGill, Sako Rourke and Manning each logged four takedowns while Nolan Terrance recorded two tackles and a fumble recovery.

The junior Raiders were guided by veteran head coach Nick Zappia along with assistants John Adey and Ed Letham.
