Massena girls volleyball team sweeps past FA

MASSENA - The Massena Central varsity girls volleyball team surged to a three-set sweep at home over NAC East Division rival Franklin Academy on Monday.

Trista Loran served up 20 points and notched three kills as the Lady Raiders won by scorers of 25-23, 27-25, 25-10. Janisa Benedict generated 10 kills, seven points, three assists and two blocks. Samanntha Villnave worked the net for a team-high 8 kills while Sydney Thompson fashioned five kills and five points and Tristan Thomas logged 21 assists.

Janelle Heden paced the Huskies with 16 service points, which included three aces, and had eight kills while Aimee Fleury had a 13-point, four-ace, five-kill effort. Now 9-2 on the season, the Lady Raiders are slated to host Salmon River on Thursday at 6 p.m. in their final regular season home match.

In the other NAC matchups on Monday, OFA downed Edwards-Knox 3-1, Madrid-Waddington knocked off Gouverneur in four sets and Potsdam hosted Canton.
