P-H, C-P boys notch convincing NAC East soccer wins

The Parishville-Hopkinton and Colton-Pierrepont varsity boys soccer teams both won by three-goal margins in NAC East Division games on Monday.

P-H 4, Norwood-Norfolk 1: In Parishville, the Panthers relayed a 2-0 halftime lead into the convincing win over the Flyers. Logan Johns opened the scoring assisted by Reed Donovan just 6:13 into the game. Preston Frank netted the second goal of the game assisted by Anthony Pullano nine minutes later.

Johns made it 3-0 off an assist from Jordan Dishaw 12 minutes into the second half before the Flyers got on the board when Brandon Short connected from Cody Bond with 15:18 left in regulation but Dishaw restored the three-goal lead less than eight minutes later assisted by Wyatt Snell.

Tyler Meashaw made six saves working the crease for the win as P-H improved to 8-2-1 overall and 7-1-1 atop the East standings. Garrett Waite stopped eight shots for N-N (1-11-0, 1-10-0).

C-P 3, St. Lawrence Central 0: In Brasher Falls, the Colts (8-4-0, 7-3-0) took early control with two goals in the first eight minutes and never looked back for the win on the road over the Larries as they kept pace with P-H in the East Division standings.

Andrew Holden scored unassisted just 4:52 into the game and Andrew Harcourt made it 2-0 three minutes later. Holden then finished off a play set up by Harcourt with 3:13 left in regulation to close out the scoring.

Craig Miller handled the seven shots he faced for the shutout. Tyler Savage had 13 saves for SLC (2-7-2, 2-6-2).

The Colts are slated to host P-H on Thursday in a late-season meeting of East Division contenders in South Colton starting at 4 p.m.

In the other two East Division games played Monday, Brushton-Moira beat St. Regis Falls 4-0 and Chateaugay turned back Madrid-Waddington 1-0 in overtime while the lone Central Division encounter had Franklin Academy holding off OFA 1-0.

B-M 4, SRF 0: In Brushton, Loren Traynor scored a goal and set up two others in the second half as the Panthers pulled away from a 1-0 halftime lead. Tristan Dumas opened the scoring. Traynor made it 2-0 midway through the second half then helped set up the other two goals by Roland Burke and Adam Martin in the 68th and 70th minutes.

Taylor Tallman made five saves for B-M (7-4-1, 6-3-1) while Michael Smith stopped 15 shots for the Saints (2-9-0, 2-8-0).

Chateaugay 1, M-W 0: In Chateaugay, Cody Smith finished off a play set up by Nick Ashline and Tyler Martin 3:09 into the first overtime to lift the Bulldogs (7-3-3, 7-3-1) to the win.

Devon Barnes had three saves working the crease for the shutout while Zach Brock made two stops for M-W (5-5-2, 4-3-1).

FA 1, OFA 0: In Ogdensburg, Brandon Welch broke through for an unassisted goal six minutes into the second half for the only goal of the game to boost the Huskies (8-3-1, 5-2-1).

Austin Lamay made 14 saves to earn the shutout while Jacob Sias stopped eight shots for OFA (6-3-3, 4-2-3).

WEST DIVISION

The West matchups on Monday saw Heuvelton edge Harrisville 1-0, Morristown down Hermon-DeKalb 3-1, Hammond blank Clifton-Fine 3-0 and Edwards-Knox outlast Lisbon 2-1.
