Clarkson men’s soccer team blanks SUNY Canton

CANTON — Angelo DiFrancesco played a part in both goals as the Clarkson University men’s soccer team produced a 2-0 win over SUNY Canton (6-7-1 overall) in a nonconference game Wednesday night.

DiFrancesco assisted on the first goal for Clarkson (2-9-3), which was scored by Brian Buckner in the 17th minute. DiFrancesco then scored in the 68th minute off a pass from Kurt Knolle. Saverino Spagnolo made four saves for the shutout.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Danielle Swanston had 12 kills to lead the SUNY Canton volleyball team to a 25-13, 25-16, 25-20 sweep of SUNYIT in a nonconference match Wednesday night.

Kiana Archer had 23 assists for the Kangaroos (12-0), while Morgan Bills had eight kills and Jessica Reynolds produced seven.

Lahni Duffer recorded 12 service points and 22 assists to lead host Jefferson Community College to a 25-10, 25-4, 25-5 Mid-State Athletic Conference win over Tompkins-Cortland CC.

Ashley Capone contributed nine points and 11 kills for JCC (22-9, 6-0) and Francesca Barajas had seven kills and eight digs. JCC hosts the MSAC Tournament on Saturday.
