FORT COVINGTON - Jaiden Mitchell finished off a play set up by Taylor Francis 17 minutes after the opening kick-off and the Salmon River varsity girls soccer team made it stand for a 1-0 NAC interdivisional win at home over Colton-Pierrepont on Wednesday.
Sam Ghostlaw made seven saves backstopping the shutout as the Lady Shamrocks improved to 3-8-1 overall while Kathryn Miller handled five shots for C-P (3-8-1).
In other NAC varsity girls soccer action on Wednesday, Canton outscored Central Division rival Gouverneur 5-0 while a pair of interdivisonal matchups saw Chateaugay outlast Franklin Academy 1-0 and Hermon-DeKalb halt St. Regis Falls 1-0.
Canton 5, Gouverneur 0: In Gouverneur, the visiting Lady Bears scored three goals in the first three minute and never looked back for the win. Lauren Smith sparked the decisive outburst with goals in the second and fourth minutes. Kali Frank also netted a pair of goals while Tori Daley accounted for the other. Emily Rexford handed out a pair of assists while Emily Pinckney and Katie Lapinski each logged solo helpers
Hilary Wilcox stopped six shots working the crease for the Lady Bears (6-4-1, 5-2-1) while Taylor Andrews recorded 13 saves for Gouverneur (2-6-4, 2-5-3).
Chateaugay 1, FA 0: In Malone, Courtney Boyea scored off an assist from Stephanie Whyte with 7:35 left in the first half for the only goal of the game as the Lady Bulldogs improved to 13-0 overall.
Makayla Fleury made nine saves working the crease for the shutout while Jayme Lavoie stopped 11 shots for FA (3-9-1).
H-D 1, SRF 0: At St. Regis Falls, Kasey ODonnell converted on a penalty kick 28 minutes into the first half and it held up as the game-winner.
Chelsey McKay had five saves for the win while Kiana Stowell stopped 11 shots for the Lady Saints.

In the lone NAC boys soccer matchup on Wednesday, Edwards-Knox overpowered West Division rival Clifton-Fine 5-1.
