PETIT LARCENY - MASSENA - Massena-based state police charged Anthony J. Brothers, 27, of 52 Maple St., Apt. 3, Massena, with petit larceny Friday following an investigation into an incident that took place at 8:11 p.m. Wednesday. Brothers, working as shift manager at the time of the incident, reportedly stole $99.99 from the restaurant. Store officials told troopers they had video footage showing Brothers removed money from his cash drawer and later place some of that money in his pocket. Troopers, in a statement included in court documents, said Brothers admitted he had taken the money after being reminded there were surveillance cameras inside the Taco Bell. I messed up. I was short on rent. Made my bed. Now I got to lay in it, he reportedly told troopers. Brothers was terminated from his employment at Taco Bell. He was arraigned by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow and released on his own recognizance to reappear Nov. 28. Village police also executed a bench warrant from village court dated July 6, 2010 alleging Brothers had failed to appear as directed on a disorderly conduct. He is scheduled to appear on that warrant Tuesday in Massena Village Court.
