Gail W. Vroman Gage, resident of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, summer resident of Henderson Harbor, NY, and former resident of Potsdam, NY, passed away October 15, 2012. After a six-month battle with complications from lymphoma, she passed in peace under the care of family and friends in the Jupiter, FL Pavilion Hospice. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm, November 10, 2012, at the Lakeside Presbyterian Church, 4601 S. Flagler Dr., West Palm Beach, FL. A celebration of life service will be held in July 2013, in Adams and Henderson Harbor, NY.

Gail Anne Wilson was born October 21, 1930, daughter of Ralph and Lottie Wilson, Fairport, NY. Gail was married to E. Ross Vroman (deceased) from 1952 -1977, and was married to Calvin C. Gage (deceased) from 1978-2004. She received her BS in Music Education from Nazareth College and the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, and her MS from The Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam. Along with over 30 years of teaching at South Jefferson and Norwood-Norfolk Central Schools, Gail was a very active adjudicator, clinician, conductor and chairperson of various local, state and regional choral festivals. She also served as the choir director at the Adams Village Baptist Church, Adams NY for over a quarter century. She was an officer and regional representative for several Choral Directors organizations and for 23 years, a resident conductor at the NYS Music Camp, Hartwick College. In retirement Gail and husband Calvin continued guest conducting and adjudicating as well as being most active in the Choral Society of the Palm Beaches.

Those who knew Gail could attest her life revolved around two things, her music and her family. Gail is survived by her children (spouses): Sons Neil (Kerryellen) of Dover NH, David (Mona) of Massena, NY; Daughters Susan Cavanagh (George) of Safety Harbor, FL and Lisa Vroman (Patrick O’Neil) of Pasadena ,CA; Step-daughters Debra Gage Chermonte (Joel) of Olmsted Falls, OH, Laurie Gage Ganger of Rochester ,NY and Wendy Gage Lucci of Doylestown, PA; seven grandchildren Katherine Vroman, Anne Vroman Watson, Christopher Warren, Aubrey Liccardi and Joshua, Taylor and Molly Lucci, as well as her two great grandchildren Jason and Jordan Watson. Gail, the youngest of 9 siblings, is also survived by her sister Mary Jane Gifford (94) of Geneseo, NY, and Brother Bill Wilson (93) of CA, dozens of loving nieces, nephews, and very close extended musical family and friends.

Gail was a lover of life, her family, friends and the support of music (the arts) in schools, and if there was a doubt, all you needed to do was ask…she could talk for a while on any of these topics.

Memorial contributions may be sent to The Choral Society of the Palm Beaches, PO Box 30831, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33420; The Crane School of Music or the Calvin Gage Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o the Potsdam College Foundation, 44 Pierrepont Ave, SUNY Potsdam, Potsdam, NY 13676; the Hospice, Animal Shelter or local school music/arts program of choice.
