Jim Silver Surrounded by his family, 67, of Dover Plains, NY, peacefully entered eternal rest Friday, October 12, 2012, after a long and courageous battle with Corticobasal Degeneration. Jim was born October 25,1944, in Ogdensburg, New York to R. Manley and Elizabeth “Betty” (Maville) Silver. He married Janice M. Graveline in 1965. After spending his childhood on the banks of the St. Lawrence River, he joined the United States Navy where he received advanced training in computer programming. He was an avid sailor, a former Commander of the Mid-Hudson Power Squadron, and some of his happiest times were spent near the water. Jim was a trustee of Sacred Heart Church in Kent CT, and an active member of the church community. Jim is survived by his wife Jan, daughter Jane, son Jay and his fiancee Maggie, son Jeff and his wife Melanie, brother Larry and his wife Peggy, mother-in-law- Rita Graveline, sister-in-law Sally, and brother-in-law Paul. His close knit family also includes 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandsons, and many cousins, nieces, nephews. A memorial service will be held 10 am Friday, October 19, 2012, at Sacred Heart Church in Kent, CT. Jim and his family wish to raise awareness of this disease.
