Massena swept past Brushton-Moira while Salmon River turned back Tupper Lake in five sets in NAC varsity girls volleyball action on Monday.
Massena 3, B-M 0: In Brushton, the Lady Raiders improved to 12-2 in the East Division after downing the Lady Panthers by scores of 25-10, 25-5, 25-11. Tristan Thomas anchored the winning effort with 18 service points and nine assists. Krista Loran served up another 10 points followed by Cashlynn Jaggers with eight.
The Lady Raiders are slated to close out the regular season on Wednesday at undefeated East Division leading Chateaugay which improved to 15-0 by stopping Franklin Academy in four games (25-23, 21-25, 25-14, 25-14).
Salmon River 3, Tupper Lake 2: At Fort Covington, the Lady Shamrocks won the opening game 25-11, only to find the Lumberjacks regroup to take the next two 26-24 and 25-21. Salmon River rallied in the final two games to pull out the victory and were led by Nicole Smokes 20 service points. Smoke also logged five aces, nine assists and seven kills as Cassie Boardway served up five aces among her 15 points. Raven Oakes added a 13-point, four-ace, three-kill effort while Kasennakohe David had an 11-point, 10-kill night. Jackie Benedict chipped in to the win with 10 service points, four aces and five kills as the Lady Shamrocks improved to 11-4.
