POTSDAM - The Potsdam volleyball and soccer teams competed this past week.
WOMENS VOLLEYBALL
The Potsdam Volleyball team traveled to SUNY New Paltz this past weekend for the final SUNYAC East Pool play of the season. The Bears finished 1-3 and clinched a spot in the SUNAYC tournament. On Friday, Potsdam fell to Cortland in three sets before rebounding to defeat Plattsburgh, 3-0. The Bears struggled on Saturday, losing 3-1 to Oneonta and 3-0 to New Paltz.
WOMENS SOCCER
The womens soccer team faced off with Brockport and Geneseo to conclude their regular season. The Bears fell 4-0 to the Golden Eagles on Friday afternoon. On Saturday, the Knights downed Potsdam 7-0 in the season finale.
MENS SOCCER
The mens soccer team tied with Brockport and just missed a final playoff spot in a heartbreaking loss to Geneseo over the weekend. The Bears started the weekend with a 2-2 tie against Brockport. On Saturday, Potsdam battled with Geneseo for a final position in the SUNYAC tournament. The Knights edged the Bears in the second overtime to secure the win.
Sophomore forward Eduardo Figueroa (Rochester, N.Y.) recorded three goals and is now in first place on the Potsdam all-time scoring and goals lists with his performance over the weekend.
PERFORMERS OF THE WEEK
Sophomore Eduardo Figueroa earns his third Bears male performer of the week honor. Figueroa totaled three goals on the weekend. His performance has now moved him into first place on the all-time points and goals lists.
Junior Sara Anderson (Lake George, N.Y.) is the Bears
female performer of the week. Anderson stepped into a new role in the outside hitter position this year for the Bears. This past weekend she tallied 37 kills, 20 digs, and four blocks.
THE WEEK AHEAD
The cross country teams return to the course Saturday, Oct. 27 at 11 a.m.
for the SUNYAC Championships hosted by Fredonia.
The volleyball team returns to the court for senior night this evening against across town rival Clarkson. The team then travels to the Oswego tri-match on Oct. 27 to face Oswego at 1 p.m. and St. John Fisher at 3 p.m.
The mens soccer team looks to finish the season strong tonight as they head across town for a 7 p.m. showdown with the Clarkson Golden Knights.
The mens hockey team opens its season away from Maxcy Ice Arena at Massena Arena against Division II Saint Michaels at 7 p.m. on Friday.
The equestrian team begins their season on Saturday, Oct. 27 at SUNY Geneseo (Roleu Stables).
