Brewe, Maine – Eugene B. Gene Hill, 75, husband of Pamela J. (Gilman) Hill, died Oct. 20, 2012 at a Bangor hospital. He was born Apr. 15, 1937 in Buffalo, NY, the son of Glenn W. and Doris M. (Villnave) Hill Sr. Gene served in the US Air Force and retired as a master sergeant from the US Air Guard, Bangor after a total of 26 years of service. He later worked for MD Hardy and also worked in shipping and receiving at Sears. Gene was a longtime active member of the Second Congregational Church where he enjoyed his time on the dartball team. He loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to garden, do puzzles and tell stories of his many adventures.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years from Brewer; three children, Dawn Hill and her boyfriend, Dennis Allard, Jr. of Hermon, Eugene B. Hill, II and his wife, Kathryn of Brewer and Petrea Hill of Orono; two sisters, Shirley LaClair and her husband, Joseph and Sharleen Benedict of Largo, FL; five brothers, Ervin Hill and his wife, Lorraine of Bangor, Alvin Hill of Arizona, Glenn William Hill, Jr and friend, Elaine, Peter Hill and Donald Hill and friend, Donna of Massena, NY; brother-in-law, Stephen Gilman of Bangor; sister-in-law, Susan Bullard and her husband, Cecil of Dedham; a sister-in-law, Wendy Gilman of Granby, Mass; grandchildren, Joey McGowan and his wife, Sarah of Bangor, Jason and Justin McGowan of Orrington, Christine Hill of Isle Au Haut, Heaven Hill of Brewer, Katie Robinson and her husband, Michael of Olympia, WA and Amanda Hill and her fiancÚ, Troy Damon of Brewer, Logan Hill of Oronon; great grandchildren, Hayley McGowan, Brandon and Brady Sargent, Isabella McGowan, Jordyn Hill; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and one sister, Sharon Werner; a brother-in-law, Nelson Benedict and a sister-in-law, Cathy Gilman.
Family and friends may visit 4 – 7 PM Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012 at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A service honoring Genes life will be held 1 PM Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 at the Second Congregational Church, 607 South Main St., Brewer with a reception immediately afterward in the church hall. Burial with military honors will be 2 PM Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Second Congreg.
