Funeral services for 87-year old Mr. Glenn E. Barrigar of the Town of Stockholm will be held Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam at 10:00 AM with Rev. Andy Reese, Pastor of the Parishville Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Parishville. Friends may call at the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam on Friday afternoon and Friday evening from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7: 00 to 9:00 PM. A Masonic service will be presented at the Seymour Funeral Home on Friday evening at 8:00 PM for friends and family.

If friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Mayfred Flannagan Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O Garnet Barrigar, 374 McIntyre Road, Winthrop, New York 13697 for 4-H summer camp scholarships to area youth. Mr. Barrigar died October 22, 2012 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital. He had been a resident of the Spicer Adult Home in Canton for a couple of years.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Gary (Diane) Collins of Parishville, a son and daughter-in-law, Garnet and Carole Barrigar of the Town of Stockholm, a foster son and his wife, Thomas and Sharon Rathbun of Lawrenceville, 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 5 foster grandchildren, and 11 foster great-grandchildren.

Glenn was born in the Town of Pierrepont on April 5, 1925. He graduated from Parishville Hopkinton High School and was married to Mary Flanagan on September 16, 1944 at the Methodist Parsonage in Potsdam by Rev. Wendell Carter. Mary died April 30, 2001.

Glenn worked as a heavy equipment operator with Niagara Mohawk Power Co. for 36 years. He also owned and operated a farm in the Town of Stockholm. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Glenn was a member of the Amber Lodge 395 Free & Accepted Masons in Parishville, a board member for 7 years with the Parishville-Hopkinton Central School board, a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for over 60 years, and had served as an assistant 4-H Leader in the past.

Arrangements are with the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam.
