Massena: Madeline Tootsie B. Greene, 77 of Bayley Rd. Massena died early Tuesday morning (October 23, 2012) at home surrounded by her loving family and hospice. Tootsie was born November 13, 1934 in Massena the daughter of the Alphe and Mary (Deshaies) Nadeau. She was a graduate of Massena High School. In her earlier career she had been a legal secretary for the LaVarnway Law Firm for a brief period. At one time she was also employed at Alcoa as a Secretary. She married James E. Greene on October 14, 1961 at the Church of the Sacred Heart by Rev. John Branch. Tootsie is survived by her children Kaye L. and her companion David Jaffe, Kelly M. Greene and Edward J. Greene all of Massena; also surviving are her grandchildren, Chastity, Cosette, Madeline, Dustin and Austin, great grandchildren Ryan, Nathan, Erika, Justin and Kayden. She is also survived by her brother John Nadeau of Puma, CA and a sister in-law Patricia Nadeau of Massena. Tootsie was predeceased by her brother Henry on August 27, 2012. For many years she was a bartender in many well known establishments including the Helena House, Neighborhood Tavern, Bowlmor, and recently was the bartender at the AMVETS Riverfront Post on the Grasse River. If anyone had ever visited one of these area establishments, you surly would have met and remembered Tootsie. Family and friends are invited to call Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena. Funeral services will be held Friday (October 26, 2012) at 12:00 pm at St. Josephs Church with Rev. Scott Fobare presiding. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Massena. At the familys request memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley or a charity of ones choice.
