The Ogdensburg Police Department is warning residents of the following phone and mail scams circulating in the community:

■ A bulk mailing signed by Joseph Hill, claims agent, or Lori Welch, promotion manager, on behalf of Advance Financial Settlements LLC, Los Angeles, Calif., informs residents of their lottery resources management services and requests payment verification.

■ A male caller with a foreign accent identified by city police as Lawyer Fairbanks with the telephone number of 518-207-3023 is calling city residents advising them they have won money. However, the caller asks personal questions concerning bank accounts.

City police are advising the public to not give out personal information such as dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and banking information, and to report any contact with these or other suspected scams.
