MASSENA - The Glory in our Hearts Foundation recently donated backpacks to 10 local students ranging from pre-kindergarten to 10th grade in the foundations first of what is planned to be annual backpack drive.
Each backpack was filled with all of the supplies from each of the students back to school supply list so they would be ready to go on the first day of school. The 10 students all met with Athena Curley to pick up their backpacks at the Massena Housing Authority Office on Robinson Road, where Glory Rufa served as a tenant relations advisor.
Fittingly, the backpack drive was the kickoff event for the Glory in our Hearts Foundation, established in August 2012 in Glorys memory by her children.
The foundation is dedicated to continuing her mission of enriching the communities of Northern New York now and for generations to follow by providing financial assistance to children in pursuit of educational and spiritual endeavors, raising awareness of heart disease and continuing Glory M. Rufas charitable work.
