WINTHROP - Two people were taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following an accident Wednesday afternoon between a milk truck and a late model Suburban on state Route 11.

The milk truck was westbound on state Route 11 and the Suburban with Missouri tags was eastbound when the accident took place. The tractor trailer traveled approximately 75 yards through guard rails, down embankments and landed on its side. The driver of the Suburban crawled out of the window and was found lying next to the vehicle.

New York State Police, Tri-Town Rescue and the Brasher-Winthrop and West Stockholm fire departments responded to the accident between on state Route 11 near the Stockholm town barn in the town of Stockholm.

As of 2 p.m. state Route 11 had been closed between County Route 49 and state Route 11 and 11C.
