GRAND LARCENY - MASSENA - Village police charged Richard L. Benedict, 31, of 112 Frogtown Road, Hogansburg, with fourth-degree grand larceny. He allegedly shoplifted a 26-inch screen television, a SONY surround system and cat food from Walmart. The cat food pushed the cost of the stolen merchandise over $1,000 and elevated the charge from a misdemeanor count to a felony. Benedict was released on an appearance ticket.
