GOUVERNEUR - The Norwood-Norfolk Central swept Class D honors while the Potsdam Central girls captured the Class C title at the Section 10 Cross Country Championship Meet staged at the Gouverneur Country Club on Thursday.
Kyle Fulk led N-N with a time of 19:00 in the Class D race followed by teammates Deven Grant (19:54.7) and Adam Saucier (19:55.6). Connor Levison ran fifth in 20:22.2 as the Flyers downed Tupper Lake 24-45 and Brushton-Moira 24-55.
The Lady Flyers ran uncontested against incomplete Tupper Lake and Brushton-Moira teams. Kaycie Saucier paced the Class D race in 21:36.2 followed by Leah Livernois (22:32.2) and Jessic Fulk (23:22.4). Natasha Dominique placed six for N-N in 26:18.1 and Maddie Stewart seventh in 27:00.
POTSDAM GIRLS WIN
Madi Dow anchored the Potsdam girls win as they outscored Gouverneur 22-35 while Salmon River was incomplete. Dow paced the Class C race in 21:51.2. Also contributing toward the win for the Lady Sandstoners were; Mari Amell (3rd, 23:29.1), Tiffani Love (4th, 24:33.4), Sarah-Marie Choong (6th, 28:18.5) and Clare Brownell (8th, 26:40.3).
In the boys Class C race, Ethan Vinson of Potsdam led the field in 17:42.2 but the Sandstoners fell to Gouverneur 24-40. Salmon River was third with 66 points.
The next two top finishers for Potsdam were James Merrill (5th, 19:53.5) and Ben Miller (6th, 20:18.2).
Jayson Cook (9th, 21:20) and Brandon Bryington (10th, 22:05.9) anchored the Salmon River effort.
The Malone boys won the Class B race with 15 points over OFA (50) and an incomplete Canton team. Connor Gordon placed first overall for the Huskies in a new course record time of 17:01.7. Led by Laura Pierce, Canton won the Class B girls title with Pierce posting a time of 20:15.7.
The Section 10 champions are now eligible to compete at the New York State Meet on November 10 at Elms Meadows near Buffalo.
