MORRISTOWN A Morristown man was killed at 12:45 p.m. Saturday when his pickup truck veered off County Route 6 and smashed head-on into a tree.
Chester H. Walters, 56, of 8975 Route 58, was dead at the scene, state police said.
Mr. Walters was heading south on County Route 6 when for no apparent reason his truck crossed into the opposite lane, went off the shoulder and into the tree, troopers said.
The accident remains under investigation. An autopsy is planned.
St. Lawrence County Coroner James M. Sienkiewycz and Morristown Fire and Rescue, along with volunteers from Brier Hill, responded to the scene.
Troopers said they received multiple 911 calls about the accident.
