Massena: Domenico Jermano, 100 of Urban Drive Massena, passed away Wednesday evening (November 6, 2012) at St. Regis Nursing Home. Domenico was born in Plati, Italy on September 3, 1912 the son of Giovanni and Maria (Pangallo) Jermano. He attended schools in Italy and proudly served in the Italian Army during World War II and was a P.O.W for five years. Domenico married Maria Staltari on September 28, 1946 in Plati, Italy and in 1955 he left his native country and came to the United States. In 1958 he sent for his beloved wife and daughters to join him in Massena to start their new lives together. He began working for the Village of Massena where he was a laborer and gardener, taking special care of the roses and tulips in the now, Massena Veterans Park, Domenico retired from the village in 1976. He is survived by his wife Maria, two daughters, Anna and Michael Ciampa and Rosa Durant, a son Giovanni and daughter in-law Carolyn all of Massena, five grandchildren, Charles Durant, Ann and Casey Hayes, Joseph Ciampa, Bettina and Mia Jermano along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Anna Catanzarite, and two brothers, Antonio, and Saverio. Domenico was a proud member of the Massena Italian American Club and a communicant of St. Joseph’s. A mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Church will be held on Saturday (November 10, 2012) at 10:00am with Rev. Jack Downs presiding.

Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends and family may call at Phillips Memorial Home from 4:00 - 8:00pm Friday (November 9, 2012). Online condolences may be made to www.phillipsmemorial.com
