CARTHAGE — At the suggestion of West Carthage Mayor Scott M.. Burto, the Carthage Area Chamber of Commerce is urging spectators to bring nonperishable food items to the parade Saturday.

In lieu of an entry fee for this year’s Holiday Parade, the chamber has asked each participant to donate two bags of groceries for the Village Ecumenical Ministries and St. James food pantries.

Students from the Carthage Central School 12 Honors class will walk the parade route collecting the food items.

The parade begins at 11 a.m. Lineup begins at 9:30 a.m. on North Jefferson Street in West Carthage. The parade route continues down Bridge Street, across the bridge, onto State Street and left to North School Street before ending at the Elks Lodge, 511 Fulton St.
