Sundays observation of Veterans Day will see several area communities paying respect to local veterans.
Heuveltons Amvets Post 1997 will have a wreath-laying ceremony at 11 a.m. in front of the Oswegatchie Town Hall.
After the ceremony a public lunch will be held at the Amvets post, 107 State St.
The American Legion in Waddington also will have a ceremony at 11 a.m.
The ceremony will not be more than 15 minutes, Commander Michael S. McIntosh said.
Mr. McIntosh will give a short speech and there will be prayers said as well.
Following the ceremony, the American Legion will host a meal, open to the community, at its 23 Fenton St. post.
Amy Rivera will provide musical entertainment.
Mr. McIntosh said the meal will be put on by community members, including the fire department, to honor the veterans.
The VFW Post in Canton will have a flag-raising at 11 a.m. to mark the day.
Massenas events will kick off at 10:45 a.m. with a parade from the American Legion on East Orvis Street to the fire station, where the annual service will be held.
After the ceremony a lunch will be served for the veterans.
