AGGRAVATED DWI - POTSDAM - Village police charged Joshua D. Howland, 20, of Potsdam with aggravated driving while intoxicated and ticketed him for illegally passing a red light followimg a traffic stop at 1:38 a.m. Sunday on Market Street. Police said they made the stop after they observed Howland pass through a steady red light at the intersection of Market Street and Sandstone Drive. He reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.20 percent. A blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent constitutes a DWI count. The charge is elevated to aggravated DWI when the blood alcohol content is 0.18 percent of higher.

STOLEN PROPERTY - POTSDAM - Village police charged Chad R. Simmons, 25, of Dekalb with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property at 2:25 p.m. Sunday. He is charged with possessing a stolen cell phone and then trading it for other property. The owner of the stolen phone noticed a listing matching the description of his phone for sale on Craigslist and arranged to meet with the seller. The phone was determined to be the stolen phone and further investigation resulted in apprehension of the defendant who took the phone from Norwood and then traded it.

1220 Resident expressed concern about a disabled individual operating an electric personal assistive mobility device on Lawrence Avenue against traffic.

1407 Patrol dispatched to Riverside Drive to assist, if needed, in having subjects removed from premises.Movers were identified after a traffic stop. Some litter placed by the roadway by them was also retrieved, and they were released.

1417 Copy of Clarkson University Security and Safety report received detailing graffiti made on the Vannote dormitory in black paint reading “Van Dope.” A $100 reward is offered by the university for information on the person(s) responsible.
